Getting ready for Autumn
September always has that ‘back to school’ and new start vibe – so what better time to refresh your look. You can perhaps put away those items that have been great for the Summer months but that won’t just cut it as the weather changes and Autumn gets underway.
The first thing to take a look at make up wise is your foundation. This summer’s heatwave certainly presented us with lots of challenges particularly when working with Brides who needed to look perfect all day. Most people, myself included, tended to wear as light a base as possible in an attempt to avoid a sweaty face and chose a tinted moisturiser.
In particular I’ve got my eye on Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation – it has a buildable coverage and comes in forty shades. Clarins have also launched Skin Illusion which is a serum foundation – this is available in 22 shades.
If you go to a beauty counter in a big store like John Lewis, Selfridges or Debenhams the advisor will colour match you and also give you a sample of the product to try at home and see if it suits you.
If those are too expensive I have also heard good reports about the new Max Factor foundation called Radiant Lift which is available in store at Boots.
It’s certainly worth it, at this time of year, investing in products that will nourish your hair. I always schedule a haircut in September and then I treat myself to a nourishing hair mask to help repair any damage from the summer sun. Kerastase is one of my favourites, used weekly it will make your hair feel soft and silky and if you register on their web site you can get a free sample. But there are different ones available to suit all hair types and different budgets.
Whether you had a natural tan or a false one it’s probably time to give your skin some extra attention. I try and use a body scrub a few times a week to bring a glow back to my skin and I follow this with my favourite body cream. L’Occitane make some gorgeous ones – the scrub is effective without feeling gritty and the cream is luxurious and smells heavenly. By the time I’m slipping into my dresses in December my skin looks great!
