Ageing Beauty
City College Birmingham was pleased to welcome professional make-up
artist Gemma Howard who put on a Master class to Year 11 students at
our Handsworth and East Birmingham campus. Students gained useful tips
in theatre, bridal and hi-fashion make-up as well as getting career
advice about the beauty industry.
Three students where chosen by Gemma to demonstrate to the rest of the
class the steps taken to make a young person look elderly, traditional
bridal make-up, and hi-fashion make-up. Gemma described each step as
she went though the various stages answering any questions that student’s
had.
Gemma Howard is a highly experienced Make-up artist, starting her career
at the University of Wolverhampton, where she completed her Art degree.
She then went on to gain extensive training in make-up at Greasepaint
the International School of Television, Film and Theatre in London. Gemma
has gained even more experience by working with the BBC and Impact Model
Management and has been the make-up artist on many T.V shows, films and
in the theatre.
City College Birmingham has three state-of-the-art salons at East Birmingham
Campus in Garretts Green, Handsworth Campus on Soho Road and Bordesley
